If you know me, you know I love shoes. Yet while I am fantasizing about the latest Jimmy Choo styles, there are thousands of children -- and adults -- a few hundred miles away who have never even had a pair of shoes. Increase the distance and the number goes up exponentially.
When I first found out about Soles4Souls, I knew I had found my charity. This group of angels has provided shoes for over 10 million people around the world. When Hurricane Katrina hit, they were there with a million pairs for people who had lost everything -- including their shoes. They're in Haiti right now, helping in every way they can and, yes, giving people shoes to walk through the aftermath of the devastating earthquake.
My dream is to travel with Soles4Souls and help people by literally putting shoes on their feet. I know it's not a cure for cancer. I know it's not the answer to starvation. But it is a start. We all tread on this same earth. We all need each other. I can't think of anything I would rather do than put myself at others' feet in this wonderful way.
I have the opportunity to travel with Soles4Souls to Los Barilles, Mexico this fall. I need to raise at least $1,800 for the trip. I deposited $150 initially so my goal is officially $1,650. Any donation you can make toward that will be deeply appreciated. Please help me help Soles4Souls change the world, one pair at a time.
